Alessandro Penso, 1977, Rome.

Alessandro is working on gender identity and the role of the body in various forms of art.

As a result of his latest studies at the Roman School of Photography, he won a scholarship which made it possible for him to create New Tibet. The following work, Ethiopian tribal enviroments, has won various prizes and has become the study object in several photography courses in the United States. In 2008, he attended the course by Francesco Zizola and Tiziana Faraoni.

Drag Kings was shown on Lucca digital photo gala evening in 2008. In the same year, Alessandro received an honorable mention at Pilsner Urquell International Photography Awards as well as by the National Association of Italian Photographers. The following year, he took part in Photoespaña and won two prizes in the reportage category at Prix de la Photographie in Paris.
In 2009, Alessandro participated in FotoGrafia, an international festival in Rome, with In between and he also took part in the collective Dimensione massima 12x10.
